Hansa Rostock – coach Härtel praises talent Martens – football

Easy affair: Hansa won the second pre-season test at Dynamo Schwerin, who had been promoted to the Oberliga, 6-1 (3-0). Coach Jens Härtel (53): “That was much better than in the first game. The boys played fresher and scored three quick goals.”

In addition to Hanno Behrens, John Verhoek, Ridge Munsy and Pascal Breier, Theo Martens (19) scored twice. The storm talent: “I go into every game confidently and with a lot of joy.”

Rising Martens! The Rostock native has been playing for Hansa since he was a youth and signed his first professional contract in 2021. Last season, the left winger alternated between the U19s and amateurs and trained with the pros. Haertel praises: “Theo has taken a step forward.” At the beginning of May, the attacker made his second division debut against Ingolstadt. Martens: “The mission showed me how beautiful it is up there. I hope for every minute that comes along.”

In the future, the home-grown child will have to master the balancing act between sport and school. Martens: “I won’t graduate from high school until next year. The focus is on football, but you always have to have a plan B in your pocket.”
