Hamraoui breaks his silence and excuses Abidal from the aggression he suffered

BarcelonaKheira Hamraoui, a former Barça player and currently at Paris Saint-Germain, has been one of the protagonists of women’s football this season, but not for what she has done on the pitch. The French footballer was assaulted in November by two hooded men while traveling by car with her partner Aminata Diallo. The assailants pulled her out of the vehicle and punched her in the legs with iron bars. Now, a few months later, he has broken his silence in an interview with the French newspaper The Team.

The player is clear that it was a premeditated attack, a real ambush, as the assailants were waiting for him behind a truck and were in the right place at the right time. “How could they be so well informed?” Hamraoui wonders.

The Frenchwoman still remembers with pain what happened: “That night, I really thought I was staying there. I screamed and tried to protect myself as much as possible. It lasted five minutes and it was unbearable,” she laments.

Hamraoui also remembers with great disappointment the whistle he suffered from the fans of PSG, his team, the day he returned to the pitch after the attack: “When I entered the match, I heard hostile chants and insults. from the stands. I was surprised and scared at the same time. I tried to ignore it and focus on the game, but when it was over I sank. “

Three or four weeks after the attack, he was back in training. “It was the best way to heal the pain and suffering. I worked three times more outside than inside the field, I did good performances and, after all this sacrifice, they even called me to return to the French national team.” .

Subsequent reactions to the attack and the amount of speculation it provoked greatly affected the player: “I was completely emaciated, lost, confused and overwhelmed by the events. I had just come out of a traumatic episode and I noticed that the weight of the media machine was activating. I felt trapped in a storm. “

Abidal apologizes for the aggression

As part of the attack, it was discovered that former Barça player Eric Abidal was unfaithful to his wife in a relationship with Hamraoui when she was playing for Barça women. Abidal, at the time, was the club’s sporting director. At first, French police suspected Abidal’s wife, Hayet, on which he weighed the hypothesis of having ordered the beating as revenge.

The PSG player, however, rules out that the former player or his current ex-wife are the brains of the attack: “The issue of Abidal has nothing to do with this case or the aggression of which I was a victim. I think it was a smokescreen designed to keep us away from reality, “Hamraoui said. Hayet Abidal, who filed for divorce after Eric’s relationship with Hamraoui came to light, said at the time that it had nothing to do with it.

Months later, the investigation continues and no hypothesis is ruled out. Hamraoui has called for it to be resolved as soon as possible: “I need this to materialize in order to move forward in my personal reconstruction. The truth will eventually come to light.”
