Alois Hadamczik was elected the new president of the Czech Ice Hockey Association. The former national team coach succeeded in the first round of today’s election, in which he won 31 votes.
The second Jiří Šlégr received 16 votes from the delegates, the third finished with five votes Dominik Hašek. The 69-year-old Hadamczik will replace Tomáš Král, who resigned in the middle of his term, at the head of the hockey association.
“I want to thank you for your trust. It is a great honor for me. From some village, from Kravař, to get to the national team and to the president of the union. It is an honor and a great commitment,” Hadamczik said immediately after the election, in which he won the closest possible number of votes to win in the 1st round.
“I will do my best not to disappoint your trust, to protect Czech hockey and to make the right decisions,” continued the new first man of Czech hockey.
The election was eventually made using ballot papers because electronic voting did not work. After several trial elections, Petr Bříza, who managed the election, launched an electronic vote, but the total number of votes did not correspond to the number of delegates in the hall. The conference thus returned to classic ballots.
Hadamczik was one of the biggest critics of the current leadership of the hockey association. However, he announced that he was ready to cooperate with the current members of the executive committee, which was newly expanded by Aleš Kmoníček, who replaced Libor Zábranský.
Hadamczik wants to promote change and improve the economic situation and the functioning of the union. In the discussion before the election, he said that he was ready to save ten percent of the union’s annual budget, which is approximately 50 million crowns.
“I want and I believe that even if you don’t always get along with everyone, we will find a way to benefit hockey. That’s the basis of everything. To set such rules so that we don’t argue like today. I believe I will contribute to that, “Hadamczik said.
He promised the delegates that he would be ready to come to them if they asked him to. “I will go to the clubs and I will not sit in the office,” the new head of Czech hockey decided.

Former successful coach, he coached Olomouc, Vítkovice, Třinec, Sparta and Brno in the extraleague.
He also worked in Germany.
He led the Czech national team from 2006 to 2008 and again from 2010 to 2014, winning the Olympic bronze in Turin in 2006 and also three medals at world championships.
Graduate of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University in Prague.
He started playing hockey as a teenager, playing the most among the 1st NHL adults for the Kopřivnice Tatra.
He obtained a coaching A-license in 1984.
He was a co-owner of the Baník Ostrava football club.
He is a successful entrepreneur.
He is also involved in communal politics, he was, among other things, deputy mayor of his native Kravaře.
