The RBC Canadian Open, played for the first time in three years, was played in a unique atmosphere at St. George’s Golf Club in Toronto. A large and boisterous crowd, a tough leaderboard and a popular champion marked the contested edition alongside the new LIV series, which has generated a lot of talk over the past few weeks.
Moments after his win, Rory McIlroy, one of the PGA Tour’s staunchest defenders, unabashedly sent a small tip to Series LIV Chairman Australian Greg Norman after a week crazy in the world of golf.
“It’s a day that I will remember for a very, very long time. Ma 21e victory on the circuit, one more than anyone else … it gives me extra motivation, and I’m happy that I was able to do the job, “said McIlroy in a CBS interview with Amanda Renner. .
So who has 20 PGA Tour wins? There are the Americans Hale Irwin, Johnny Revolta and Doug Sanders… as well as Norman himself. Needless to speculate, McIlroy was no doubt referring to the “Shark”, who managed to attract a few big names from the circuit to the LIV series, such as Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau.

Norman had criticized McIlroy for his stance against LIV Golf, saying he had been ‘brainwashed’ by the ‘ruling class of golf’ in order to protect the PGA.
McIlroy secured back-to-back Canadian Open titles by finishing 19 under in front of a cheering crowd. It was the first tournament in Canada since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
McIlroy had the upper hand over a field that included Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Justin Rose, Corey Conners and Sam Burns.
All these beautiful people are now meeting in Brookline, Massachusetts for the presentation of the United States Open where some of the players who have decided to join the LIV series will be there. We bet that this is not the last comment that will make people talk during a week that promises to be very intriguing.
