From Naples to all of Italy, the “over” basketball project conceived by Virgilio Marino: “We are the largest delegation of the whole event”

Malaga 2022 mission for the Golden Players. Eighty Italian athletes – of which almost half (30) come from Campania – cinque formations and a load of infinite enthusiasm. From June 24th to July 3rd en route to Andalusia for basketball players over from the boot expected for a good European with 4 thousand participating athletes – other than non-EU citizens – who will finally face that tournament that should have been played for two years and then postponed due to the pandemic.
The representative
The Italian flag starts with the over 50 directed by Paolo Bianchini and with two basketball players from Campania who have always distinguished themselves in previous competitions. There are Francesco Longobardi– former Juvecaserta player with whom he also won a championship – e Michele Marino who instead was the play of the Serapide Pozzuoli. In the over 55 of coach Riscolo the name of stands out Gennaro Palmieri, one of the products of the Caserta nursery at the time of Bogdan Tanjevic, and also a player of Virtus Roma with Brian Shaw and Danny Ferry. In the over 60 of Gianni Ilario a good slice is represented by basketball players appreciated in the Aquila Partenope as the play Nando Starace and the exterior Enzo Andolfi and Stefano Prestisimone. Roster completed by important names such as Renato Bonanno, Antonio Spaccaforno, Tammaro and Lanzano. The over 65 team with Alfonso De Pisapia at the technical guide is also of a good level. In the field Virgilio Marino, Piero Giani, Peppe D’Orsi, Silvio Donadoni, Tandurella, Letteriello and Mele.

The over 55 women’s team directed by Palermo is interesting Gabriella Di Piazza, the first Italian female basketball player. There is Luisa Corallo, Salento winger with many years lived in Campania with Avellino and winner of the Champions League with Cesena in ’91. Yet Annamaria MeterangelisNeapolitan play former Italbasket with Sabrina Sussarello, Maria Luisa Premier, Anna Zonda, Ivana Donadel, Paola Corvo and many other good players.

Malaga is one of the stops on our journey. We will soon organize an international tournament in Monte di Procida, one of the Campania cradles of our basketball with three sports halls ».
