Gabriele Cioffi coach of Hellas Verona

It was expected and it is now official: Gabriele Cioffi, a nice surprise with Udinese this season, will take on the very good job left by Igor Tudor in Verona, announced the Italian club.

Gabriele Cioffi, ex-coach of Udinese, has been chosen as the new coach of Hellas Verona where he has signed a two-year contract, the Venetian Serie A club announced on Tuesday, without a technician since the departure of the Croatian at the end of May Igor Tudor.

Cioffi, 46, has committed “until June 30, 2024,” Hellas said in a statement.

The departure of Tudor had been formalized on May 28, for lack of agreement to continue despite a rather successful season, completed in 9th place in Serie A thanks in particular to the trio of attackers composed of Giovanni Simeone, Antonin Barak and Gianluca Caprari.

Verona chose to replace him with Gabriele Cioffi, himself not renewed at Udinese, a club whose team he had taken over after the ousting of Luca Gotti last December.

Cioffi has long been an assistant coach, notably alongside Gianfranco Zola in 2016 at Birmingham City but also in the United Arab Emirates (Al Jazira, Al Dhafra).
