France Espoirs team: Sylvain Ripoll soon extended

As expected, Sylvain Ripoll will continue the adventure at the head of the France Espoirs team. At the end of the contract on June 30, 2022, the Blueberries coach will see his lease extended at least until the Euro Espoirs in the category which will take place from June 9 to July 2, 2023 in Romania and Georgia. The information relayed a little earlier by our colleagues from Ouest-France, was confirmed to us in stride on Tuesday.

This is a common sense decision that will surprise no one. After meeting the president of the French Football Federation, Noël Le Graët, this Monday, June 27, Sylvain Ripoll was assured of being maintained as coach of the Bleuets, which he has just qualified for the third consecutive time for a European championship, after 2019 and 2021.

With 8 wins and 2 draws, the Espoirs tricolores have just finished at the top of their pool, three points ahead of their runner-up: Ukraine. A course which obviously counted in the choice of the FFF which has always advocated continuity, rather than change. After the failure at the Tokyo Olympics last year, Noël Le Graët had already maintained all his confidence in Sylvain Ripoll.

The story will therefore last a little longer. It remains to be seen exactly until when, the duration of the extension not yet being known when the Olympics will take place in Paris in 2024, and a new qualifying campaign starts next year.
