Femenías says goodbye to Oviedo after deciding not to renew: “It has been an honor”

First noticeable drop in Oviedo. The Femenías goalkeeper, a starter in the last two courses, will not continue at Oviedo after deciding not to accept the renewal offer from the blue team, which has been looking for a starting goalkeeper for weeks. The Spaniard’s contract ended in June, he has held talks with Tito in recent days, and has finally decided to try his luck at another club after spending two years at Oviedo, where he arrived in the summer of 2020 from Fuenlabrada.

Femenías was a firm bet by Francesc Arnau, who signed the goalkeeper when he was the Madrid club’s third goalkeeper. Although the Spaniard signed to be the substitute theoretician, being at that time in the Brazao squad, he managed to gain ownership and never let go of it. With Ziganda, his great defender, he was indisputable. Femenías valued his departure from Oviedo in an affectionate letter.

In the summer of 2020 I was lucky enough to receive the call from the unforgettable Arnau and shortly after, on August 12, sign my arrival to this great family from which I say goodbye today. Since that day wonderful things have happened to me, it has been an honor to be under the Tartiere’s sticks, with you tireless fans always behind my back, I want to thank you for so much, from the first to the last Oviedista. Thanks to a city dedicated to this shirt, to a dressing room that has been a family, to a club with huge people. Proper names, I don’t want to forget the coaching staff, Sergio Segura, our kit men Silvino and Lito, Gabri and the entire medical team, the entire press department, and each and every one who has made my stay easier. It has been an unforgettable stage, always with me. Hello Oviedo!

The departure of Femenías is an unforeseen event for Oviedo, which must look for a goalkeeper, although the entity is focused on the other transcendental operation: the renewal of Borja Sánchez, who is fighting at the club.
