FC Bayern Munich and Bundesliga because of Mané in the eye of Africa

Kone of those responsible in Munich was able to suppress the impulse last Wednesday to utter a very big word that certainly doesn’t sound completely wrong, but at the same time it sounds rather immodest. A “world star” who is already 30 years old but still very new and radiant in the Bundesliga will play for FC Bayern in the future, said President Herbert Hainer, CEO Oliver Kahn and Sport Director Hassan Salihamidzic in slightly different formulations.

Kahn has shone like never since he was promoted to Munich club boss. “We need fresh blood, we need changes in the squad,” he said, not least as a remedy for “a certain laziness” that threatens to creep in after ten championship titles. In all the words there was a lot of pride in a very promising coup, but also a good deal of relief. As if Bayern were no longer sure whether they were still attractive enough for a famous football player like Sadio Mané, who switched from Liverpool FC to Munich for 32 million euros.
