FC Barcelona – Mercato: a track to succeed Jordi Alba escapes Barça

Zapping But! Football Club FC Barcelona: the biggest disappointments of the decade in the Champions League

Several names have been mentioned in recent months to succeed Jordi Alba: Marcos Alonso (Chelsea), Javi Galan (Celta Vigo), Jose Gaya (Valencia) but also Gonçalo Costa from Sporting Lisbon. According to the Catalan daily Sport, Barça also ticked the name of the 22-year-old left-back who played with the Lions youth team.

The player had already expressed the wish to leave the club this summer when he was out of contract. Young, fast, good offensively, and above all free, the profile corresponded to the expectations of the Blaugranas but Costa will finally stay in Portugal and join Portimonense which will guarantee him more playing time in the first team.

There are still other options at Barça but time is running out and the full-back position, which does not seem to be Laporta’s priority, is just as urgent given the current shortage of great full-backs.

to summarize

Gonçalo Costa, young left back of the Sporting youth team, was tracked by Baça and could have arrived free. The Portuguese finally chose Portimonense in Portuguese D1. The young player is staying in the country to ensure he has more playing time in the first team.
