Evaluation of Indonesia Open 2022: Can’t Find Reasons, but… Pages all

KOMPAS.com – The Head of the Development and Achievement Division (Kabid Binpres) PP PBSI, Rionny Mainaky, emphasized that he would not look for reasons behind the failure to achieve the best results at the Indonesia Open 2022.

The Indonesia Open 2022 which was held at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, on June 14-19 ended with unfriendly results for the hosts.

Not a single representative of Indonesia advanced to the final of the badminton tournament at the Super 1000 level.

As a result, the Indonesian Open 2022 champion podium was also dominated by athletes from abroad.

A week earlier, one Indonesia Masters 2022 title was won through the men’s doubles of Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

Regarding the achievement at the Indonesia Open 2022, Rionny Mainaky considered this result a failure.

“To see the results yesterday at the (Indonesia) Masters there was a final and a winner. Overall, up to this day, you could say we failed,” said Rionny to Kompas.com.

Rionny added that he would not look for excuses for failure at the Indonesia Open 2022.

However, on the other hand, Rionny can also understand the fatigue factor felt by the players and coaches.

“Not disappointed, but we have to accept the result. We can’t find excuses, but the players and coaches are really tired,” said Rionny.

“Like Fajar (Alfian) whose focus is a bit unstable and makes a lot of mistakes at the end. Apriyani is indeed the highest with Fajar. They are tired,” said Rionny.

Apart from highlighting stamina, Rionny Mainaky also pays attention to injured players.

It is known that one of Indonesia’s representatives, Yeremia Rambitan, suffered an injury while competing against the Malaysian men’s doubles, Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik in the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Open 2022.

“If that’s the case, the injury might be due to a lack of training. Maybe what kind of muscle strength is it,” said Rionny.

“We supervised them during practice, warm-up, and compete. We watched Pram (Pramudya Kusumawardana) and Yeremia also during the warm-up. On the field, the warm-up must be really focused and all out in the field,” added Rionny.

After completing two consecutive tournaments in the country, then the representatives of Indonesia will continue their struggle in the Malaysia Open 2022 tournament.

Rionny said that the coaching team had done an overall evaluation, not just about stamina.

“Next able to competing in the Malaysia Open, there is a 2-3 day recovery to be ready to compete.”

“In the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open, they only rest for 2-3 days. With the coach, the point is we evaluate it as a whole, not just from stamina,” said Rionny Mainaky.

Minus Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan who were absent, Indonesia sent 18 representatives to the Malaysia Open 2022 which is a Super 750 level tournament.

The Malaysia Open 2022 will be held in Kuala Lumpur from 28 June to 3 July.
