On the occasion of Sports Day, the Paseo de la Estación has hosted the closing ceremony of the XL Sports Games on the morning of Saturday, June 11, in which more than 4,000 people have participated, with 332 winners.
The Mayor, Carlos González, the Councilor for Sports, Vicente Alberola, and the Mayor for Education, María José Martinez, attended this meeting, which included different sports, recreational, aquatic and cultural activities. In addition, an exhibition of photos related to the history of sports in Elche and its main protagonists has been carried out.
In this course the young people have been able to show their skills in futsal, soccer 5, soccer 8, multisport, volleyball, basketball, judo and handball.
Finally, the mayor wanted to address young people, whom he encouraged to continue practicing sports. As the finishing touch to this great sports festival, the different trophies have been delivered to the winning teams in the different categories and sports modalities.
