Ekaterina Alexandrova surprises at ‘s-Hertogenbosch

Ekaterina Alexandrova won the second title of her career on Sunday in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, after defeating the No. 1 seed, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, in two sets (7-5, 6-0) in the final. A surprise for the 27-year-old Russian, 30th in the world, who won the 6th in the world, semi-finalist at Wimbledon and the US Open last year.

Aryna Sabalenka collapsed after leading 5-4 in the first set. She conceded nine games in a row by committing no less than 31 faults in total. Ekaterina Alexandrova concluded the match with her best weapon with two service winners and an ace.
