Eintracht Frankfurt: Totti in BILD: “Kostic is a great fit for Italy” – Bundesliga

Hello, Mr. Totti!

BILD met Italy’s soccer legend Francesco Totti (45) for an exclusive interview. The 2006 world champion was an ambassador at the textile fair in Frankfurt. Totti is the record player and goalscorer for AS Roma (784 games/307 goals), so he knows his way around Italy’s Serie A very well. The league Eintracht’s wing star Filip Kostic (29) would like to switch to…

But would the Serb even fit Juventus Turin? Totti to BILD: “Yes, I definitely think he’s a great fit because he’s a strong player. And if he played in Serie A he would get even better!”

Kostic (in Frankfurt still contract until 2023) is said to have already agreed with Juventus on a three-year contract and 2.5 million euros net per year. Eintracht demands a transfer fee of 20 million euros. However, there is no offer yet. The Serb has not turned down Eintracht’s contract offer either.

Coach Oliver Glasner (47): “No decision has been made yet. Of course we can now talk about it every two days. On September 1st, when the transfer window closes, the squad will be finalized. I assume that Filip will come back on July 7th and join the training.”

As a national player, Kostic has a few more days off.

With his Roma, Totti (retired 2017) became Italian champion in 2001 and won the cup twice (2007 and 2008). However, he was never able to win an international title with his home club.

Eintracht achieved this by triumphing in the Europa League. Totti reveals: “I was very happy. I even cheered for Eintracht in the final and kept my fingers crossed. It’s a huge success for the club.”

The former offensive player celebrated his greatest success with the national team, becoming world champion with Italy at our home World Cup of all places… Totti with a smile: “It was a childhood dream to win against Germany in Germany. And then to become world champion here against France.”

The World Cup starts in Qatar in November – without Italy. The Roma legend: “Italy is on vacation. (laughs) Two World Cups in a row without Italy – that feels very strange… Germany is one of the favourites, has a chance of winning.”

Totti’s son Cristian (16), who already plays in the Roma youth team, was also there in Frankfurt. As a mentor, Totti wants to support young talents on their way to becoming a professional after his career: “I hope that I can find strong players for Roma in the future.”
