‘Dost causes huge transfer surprise’

Officially, Bas Dost will be a Club Brugge player for eight days, but the Dutch striker will not receive a new contract after that and therefore did not have to report at the start of the preparation. His passage in the Jan Breydel Stadium came to an end after a year and a half, in which Dost scored 24 times in 57 matches.

Those are not wrong numbers, especially if you know that Dost had to make peace with a role as a substitute last season. At 33, he still manages to find his way to the goal and that means he certainly doesn’t have to complain about a lack of interest. In recent weeks, Feyenoord has been pulling on its sleeve, while there is also interest from Germany and from ex-club FC Emmen. But Dost seems to be making a surprising choice.

According to VI it could well be that the future of Dost lies with FC Utrecht. That club would have done everything in the greatest secrecy in recent days to convince the former Orange international and they would also have a good chance of succeeding. They would see the ideal target striker in Dost and want to aim for the top five with a agile attacker around him.

MET BOUSSAID?
Last season, Utrecht finished seventh in the Eredivisie, only to immediately lose to Vitesse in the play-offs for a European ticket. Dost could meet a Belgian with Othmane Boussaid, although it is still the question whether the 22-year-old Young Devil will stay in the Dom city. VI previously reported that there is the necessary interest in the wing player, including from Cambuur.
