Borussia Dortmund have found a replacement for Erling Haaland. Die Borussen plans to sign Sebastien Haller from Ajax Amsterdam.
Dortmund sold Haaland to Manchester City this summer for 64 million euros. Haaland’s move is certainly detrimental to Dortmund considering he is a mainstay in the attack line.
Haaland has scored 86 goals in 89 appearances across all competitions since playing for the team in January 2020. It is only natural that Dortmund would be wary of using Haaland’s money to find a new striker.
Dortmund management then moved quickly in attracting a replacement for Haaland. Quoted by Sky Sport Germany, Dortmund have chosen Haller as Haaland’s successor.
Dortmund then contacted Ajax as Haller’s owner to discuss the player’s transfer. An initial offer of 33 million euros plus bonuses has been given to Ajax.
Haller himself has wanted to join Dortmund and asked Ajax to immediately complete the negotiation process. Haller is certainly expected to immediately join Die Borussen’s pre-season session and become the second striker to be recruited this summer after Karim Adeyemi.
However, Haller is considered to be more like a game character with Haaland.
Sebastien Haller is indeed a logical choice for Dortmund considering his sharpness with Ajax. He scored 47 goals in 66 games for Ajax, including 10 goals in the Champions League last season and led Ajax to two Dutch league titles.
The Bundesliga is no stranger to Haller as he played for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons. There are a total of 33 goals made from 77 matches.
