Dieng to OKC, Kamagate to Denver, Besson to Milwaukee

They were four, they all found takers. The traditional NBA draft took place this Thursday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It concerned four French players, they will all discover the Great League next season. Whether it’s Ousmane Dieng, Moussa Diabaté, Ismael Kamagate or Hugo Besson, all were selected in this lottery which saw the Italian Paolo Banchero (Duke) be called as first choice, by Orlando. Chet Holgrem (Gonzagua), drafted by OKC, and Jabari Smith Jr, third choice and who will make his NBA debut under the colors of Houston followed. As for Dieng, he didn’t have to wait very long. As announced, the New Zealand player was the first Habs selected. Called by New York in 11th position, he was immediately traded by the Knicks with OKC.

Besson drafted in… last position!

Second Frenchman having heard his name at the microphone of Adam Silver during this draft, Moussa Diabaté (Michigan) will evolve alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George after being retained in 43rd position by the Los Angeles Clippers. Kamagate, selected in 46th position, will try to pass a course on the side of Denver. The young pivot of Paris Basket joins the Nuggets. Dieng, Diabaté and Kamagate already aware of their fate, only Hugo Besson could still fear not being part of this draft. And the suspense was complete for Dieng’s teammate in Auckland, who trembled until the very last seconds before his name finally came out in 58th and last position. But not just anyhow, since the native of Angers was selected by the 2021 champions the Milwaukee Bucks. He will therefore have the monster Giannis Antetokounmpo as a teammate. It was worth the scare.
