Nottingham Forest could offer Henderson the opportunity to play regularly, something he did not get at Old Trafford.
Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is in talks with Nottingham Forest over a one-year loan deal.
The deal will also include the option of a permanent transfer to the Premier League-promoted club.
Henderson spent the 2021/22 season as David de Gea’s back-up at Old Trafford and is willing to go on loan to another club in order to get regular playing time.
Why did Henderson leave Man Utd again on loan?
Henderson has failed to displace De Gea as number one at Old Trafford, with new manager Erik ten Hag preparing to let the 25-year-old go.
He was originally expected to be United’s first choice after having spent an impressive loan spell at Sheffield United between 2018 and 2020.
Henderson has also broken into Gareth Southgate’s England national team and still has ambitions of appearing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year.
Will Man Utd find a replacement for Henderson?
His departure would leave United short on goalkeepers, leaving 36-year-old Tom Heaton the club’s only senior goalkeeper.
This paved the way for Ten Hag to bring in a new goalkeeper to provide a competitive climate for De Gea.
De Gea enjoyed a return to form last season, despite the club’s disorganized campaign, but so far there have been doubts about his knack for playing the ball with his feet which Ten Hag’s footballing philosophy demands.
Who can Man Utd sign this summer?
Ten Hag want five new players and United are in talks to sign Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen.
Denzel Dumfries is one of the targets at right-back, while Ajax duo Antony and Jurrien Timber have emerged as attacking and central defender options.
RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku is another exciting player and could be one to come in during a busy summer for Ten Hag.
