The honors are piling up for Stephen Curry. After being crowned NBA champion and finally elected MVP of the Finals against Boston, the Warriors playmaker will see his jersey removed by his university.
Davidson announced that a ceremony would be held in August, and starting next season, and this is a first for the faculty, no more Wildcats will be able to wear #30.
On August 31, Stephen Curry will also enter the university’s Hall of Fame and will take the opportunity to receive his diploma, freshly obtained last May. It is in particular thanks to the latter that it can become the seventh jersey withdrawn by the Davidson men’s basketball program since it is indeed necessary to have validated its diploma to receive this honor. Even if, for the other six, the number of a retired jersey can still be worn.
