Daniil Medvedev becomes world number 1 in the ATP rankings, Novak Djokovic 3rd

It was written and the ATP computer confirmed it: the 2,000 points collected by Novak Djokovic after his victory at Roland-Garros 2021 having been withdrawn from him on Monday, Daniil Medvedev took the opportunity to regain first place in the world , a rank he first held on February 28.

“Djoko” fell to 3rd position, which suited Alexander Zverev, who thus obtained the best ranking of his career (2nd). For different reasons, neither Medvedev (banned as a Russian) nor Zverev (serious ankle injury) will play Wimbledon.

970

The date of June 13, 2022 is historic: it is the first time since November 10, 2003 (more than 18 and a half years, 970 weeks precisely!) that the Big 3 (Djokovic-Nadal-Federer) does not occupy the one of the first two ATP places. At the time, number 1 was called Andy Roddick. Number 2, Juan Carlos Ferrero. Roger Federer was 3rd.

Murray back in the Top 50, giant leap for Van Rijthoven

Finalist at Roland-Garros, Casper Ruud also won the best ranking of his career (5th). Just behind Rafael Nadal, who is only 245 points behind Djokovic. The performance of the Spaniard is quite amazing: he has only played eight tournaments in the last 52 weeks. Apart from Stefanos Tsitsipas, who lost a place (6th), none of the other members of the top 10 (Carlos Alcaraz, Andrey Rublev, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Matteo Berrettini) did not move from their position.

Humbert and danger

Nine French players still emerge in the top 100. The band is led by Gaël Monfils (24th). Benjamin Bonzi gains six places (52nd), Arthur Rinderknech, five (55th), Benoît Paire, one (79th), Quentin Halys, two (86th). Drops at the margin for Ugo Humbert (50th, – 2), Hugo Gaston (67th, – 1), Adrian Mannarino (72nd, – 2) and Richard Gasquet (73rd, – 1). But Humbert lives with a sword of Damocles over his head: if he loses Monday afternoon to Radu Albot in Halle (where he is defending champion), he should be expelled from the top 100.
