Comeback victory: Serena Williams celebrates after a year’s break

Superstar Serena Williams has returned to the tennis tour with a win after a year’s break.

The American won the WTA tournament in doubles alongside Ons Jabeur from Tunisia against the Czech Marie Bouzkova and the Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo 2: 6, 6: 3, 13:11. In the next round, the duo will face Shuko Aoyama from Japan and Hao-Ching Chan from Taiwan.

The 23-time Grand Slam tournament winner Williams wants to warm up in Eastbourne for the lawn classic in Wimbledon (June 27th to July 10th). The 40-year-old received a wild card for the Grand Slam tournament in London. With another Grand Slam title, Serena Williams would equal the record of Australian Margaret Court (24 titles). Williams has won seven times at Wimbledon.
