Chelsea: € 120 million on the carpet for a Serie A defender?

Thomas Tuchel would have put the name of Matthijs de Ligt on his tablets, for the transfer window. Chelsea could align nearly 120 million euros to recruit the defender from Juventus of Turin. Adrien Rabiot, Robert Lewandowski and Richarlison would also appear on the Blues’ shortlist.

According to information obtained by Sky Sport, Chelsea are attentive to the situation of Matthijs de Ligt, in Italy. The player has not reached an agreement with his management to extend and would consider leaving in the coming weeks. His current contract includes a release clause of 120 million euros which does not scare everyone. PSG, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have been associated with his name in recent months.

Chelsea ready to bet 120 M€ on de Ligt?

Thomas Tuchel would particularly appreciate his profile. Recently bought by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, the Blues have an XXL envelope to strengthen their workforce this summer. The arrival of the defender could compensate for the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, at the end of their contract. The first said yes to Real Madrid, while the second opted for Barça. The Londoners could thus make the necessary effort to secure the services of the Dutch international (37 caps, 2 goals). And they could even do a double blow, while Adrien Rabiot also pleases the German technician.

Chelsea are also looking to strengthen their attack, as Romelu Lukaku will return to Inter Milan on loan. The English team could play a bad trick on Barça in the case of Robert Lewandowski: Sport indeed believes that its leaders could invest 60 million euros to recruit the Pole. An amount that the Catalan club is not willing to align.

Richarlison would finally also be on Thomas Tuchel’s shortlist for this summer. Then again, the Premier League club could bet €60m to convince Everton to let him go.
