British Open: LIV Golf players allowed to participate

Players from the breakaway LIV Golf League will be allowed to participate in the 150th British Open, the organizers of the Grand Slam tournament which will take place from July 14 to 17 in St Andrews (Scotland) announced on Tuesday.

Golfers registered with the lucrative LIV had already been authorized to take part in the US Open, another Major which was disputed last week, at Brookline. ” The opening of the tournament is fundamental to its appeal said British Open director Martin Slumbers.

A boon for players who have already seceded and an additional attraction for the new circuit led by Greg Norman, who is trying to attract the best players in the world to LIV Golf.
