This project was born inspired by the eldest son of the Ganna couple and thanks to that several young people now have a window for this sport.

The Boomerang Basketball Academy has great projects, one of them is to take a Dominican team to play in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), which is the Amateur Athletic Union.

For this, the Academy hopes to have the favor of the American consulate to facilitate the team’s visa, with which it will become the first team of balloon Dominican who participates in the AAU, of that sport, something that volleyball has already done.

Rudy recognizes the difficulties that the consulate is going through due to the accumulated work due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The team will compete in the sub-17 division and for that it is in an “intensive training phase”, with 30 youngsters, who spend three to four hours of training.

“We want to win a tournament,” said Rudy.

“That will give us notoriety, brand and scholarships,” he says. That is why the need for a visa will serve to pave the way for a group of young people, not only with scholarships in the United States, but also in the Dominican Republic.

That tournament will be played at Spooky Nook Sports, recognized as the largest indoor sports arena complex in the world. Personalities of the balloon like John Calipari and the Dominican Orlando Antigua attend the AAU in search of prospects. “We want to win there and we come back victorious,” he said.

The academy also seeks to build its own court in the National District. At the moment, they train in New Horizons, as the main court.

And another aspect is to form a team and, if possible, play in the LNB.

Baker Lopez explained that it’s not just about having talent. The discipline and school part is fundamental in Boomerang.

“To be with us you have to have good grades,” says López. The average must be around at least 2.5. “If not, you can’t qualify” for the academy, adds Rudy.

“We want great athletes, but also professionals”, since “it is not only the factor of playing balloon”.
