Göttingen’s pitcher in top form
In the first game, Göttingen’s pitcher Norman Salzmann was in excellent shape, only allowing four shots and one walk against himself and his team. Even if the Wolfsburg baseballers were able to keep the zero in four innings, unfortunately there was nothing to be gained on the offensive. In addition, the Blackbirds lost their coach and second baseman Sascha Stäritz in the fifth inning, who discussed too intensively with the umpire after a strikeout and was then sent off. A highlight at the end was Walter Schauer, who pitched through the entire first game: With a dive from the pitcher mount, he managed a flyout worth seeing.
Motolinia becomes the man of the day
In the second game, the Göttingen Allstars changed pitchers, the Blackbirds got into the game better and played it successfully. Wolfsburg was 6:0 ahead after two innings, when the Göttingen team reduced the lead to 5:6 in the third round, the hosts added five more runs – 11:5. The Blackbirds could no longer dispute this buffer during the course of the game. Man of the match was Juan Carlos Motolinia, affectionately known as “Moto”: He hit a remarkable 3-run home run in the third inning. Motolinia also knew how to convince as a pitcher with six strikeouts.

Even though we made a few mistakes in the third inning of the second game, the team performed extremely well over the entire length of the game,” Stäritz said afterwards.
