Big blow to come for Killian Hayes?

Author of an encouraging end to the season in Detroit, Killian Hayes can hope to have scored points for the future. Unfortunately for him, a recent update on the Pistons’ offseason could totally upset his future in the franchise.

As the 7th pick of the 2021 Draft, he had to honor the hopes placed in him with at least promising performances. Long too discreet on the Detroit side, Killian Hayes finally made people talk about him at the end of the regular season. His averages of 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals over the last 11 games logically earned him great congratulations.

At the start of his third campaign in the league, the young French leader can therefore consider that he has done what was necessary to maintain the confidence of his franchise. Much appreciated by his coach, Dwane Casey, he also seems to have found an ally of choice to share the backcourt, in the person of Cade Cunningham. However, a potential newcomer could threaten his place in the starting five.

Killian Hayes soon to be demoted to the Pistons?

After three seasons spent in the depths of the classification, the Pistons hope to gradually regain the heights. For this, they will necessarily have to attract this summer recruits of size, capable of driving the many hopes of the workforce. In particular… at the end, the position occupied by Hayes. Indeed, according to Mark Stein, a veteran profile would be monitored by the Motor City front office for free agency:

Sources say Detroit is also considering free agent Dennis Schröder as a cheaper option to bolster the Pistons backcourt.

Seduced by Jalen Brunson, the Pistons could therefore fall back in case of failure on Schröder, and his non-negligible experience.

At only 28 years old, the German international has already occupied this role of “guardian” in Houston in recent months. A role in which he would have scored points on the spot, as recalled by Kelly Iko from The Athletic :

As for their own up-and-coming free agents, Dennis Schröder is well-liked in Houston, but is expected to move to a new home for the 2022-23 season, sources tell The Athletic. Schröder arrived at the February trade deadline and brought professionalism, experience and speed to a team that badly needed it, but with Daishen Nix emerging, along with Porter, Christopher and Green, it really takes free up minutes for young talent on the roster.

6th man with the Rockets, Dennis The Menace would he also be in Detroit in the event of signing in the coming weeks? That’s all there is hope for Hayes!

Not yet untouchable in the five of the Pistons, Killian Hayes could soon have to deal with competition from Dennis Schröder. Also left-handed, the German could act as the perfect mentor… but also steal his minutes!
