Johannes Thiemann sees his near future after the third basketball championship in a row with permanent winner Alba Berlin: “I still have an ongoing contract and I’m very happy in Berlin.”

“It’s going quite well in terms of play. If someone from the NBA knocked, I would listen to it now,” said Thiemann of the German Press Agency the day after the 96:81 victory at permanent rival FC Bayern Munich. “But when and if that will ever happen is currently in the stars.” Thiemann was voted the most valuable player in the final series.

The capitals have won five of the past six national titles. “I would definitely like to continue working on our joint success story in Berlin. We’re all really keen on it!” said the 28-year-old national player. When asked if he could imagine a dominance like at the turn of the millennium, Thiemann said: “I wouldn’t turn it down. But that will be very difficult to achieve. With three titles in a row, we already have a very strong run.” At that time, Alba won seven titles in a row.
