The Basketball Club Lucca entrusts Francesco Nalin as the first coach of the C Gold team.
A choice made in continuity with the path undertaken in recent years, aimed at enhancing the excellence of the nursery and training capable and prepared coaches. In this regard, the profile of coach Nalin, who arrived at the Basketball Club Lucca last season, proved to be the most suitable to continue this path also in this new important role.
Francesco Nalin was born in Lucca in 1992 and, after a career as a player in the Lucca Basketball jersey, has been dedicating himself to the role of coach for years now.
Despite his young age, he already has a fair amount of experience: in addition to always having coached senior teams in the minor categories, from promotion to Serie Dhas been working for years in the youth sectors of Lucca with the aim of developing players and transmitting the right sporting mentality to the boys.
Based on these experiences, last year the Bck decided to entrust him with the role of coach of the Excellence groups and assistant of the Serie C team.
This year the definitive leap to head coach of the first team.
How did you take the offer of head coach, did you expect it? What are your first impressions?
“Honestly, during the year not only did I not expect it, but I didn’t even think about it: I was very focused on the work to be done with the youth teams. Despite this, I am very happy to have received this proposal because it shows that the work I have done throughout the year has been appreciated. Clearly, having always trained senior, I immediately felt ready, but the experience as assistant in C this year was also fundamental: for this I would like to thank Alberto Tonfoni, whom we will meet again on the playing fields and who has been precious for my growth “.
What do you think of the Bcl project that aims to enhance its internal resources?
“The quality of the project we are undertaking will depend above all on the work we will do from now on. The facts will have to speak. What I can say is that I feel a lot of trust from the company, a trust that I hope with all my heart to be able to repay. The key thing will be to have unity of purpose with all components of society.
Having said that, being chosen to coach the most important men’s basketball team in the city, with this important project of his, is a source of enormous pride: in the last 5 years I have coached many guys of all ages and I know practically anyone in this city. playing basketball. From the first division with the Sky Walkers, to all the experience with Libertas, up to the most recent with the Bcl. Accepting this proposal for me also means reaping all that has been sown in recent years: not only from a technical and sporting point of view, but also from a relationship and mentality point of view “.
Any ideas on how next year’s team will be set up?
“I know what we have to do and I know how the work will be set up. I know the strengths of this team, the potential, but also what we lack. From the players’ point of view, it was up to me I would reconfirm the whole roster of the past year, but I know that it is not at all obvious. In any case, it is still early, we’ll see ”.
