The big Ländle derby in the Baseball Bundesliga was on the program on Sunday. The Dornbirn Indians, currently first in the West Division, were guests at Ballpark Hard.

With sunshine and 30 degrees, the umpire spoke the words “Play Ball” and opened the first game. The guests got off to a strong start and scored three runs in the first inning. The Bulls’ starting pitcher, Jonas Zimmermann, didn’t find his way into the game, but Maximilian Lueger also had problems at the beginning. After the 2nd inning the score was 7:7. In the 3rd inning there was a pitcher change on both sides: Ryan Rupp and Marcel Winder were used. Both managed to bring the opposing offensive under control. Levin Maier took over in the 6th inning and Dornbirner scored seven runs. The first game went to the Dornbirn Indians 8-18 after seven innings through Mercy Rule.

In the second game, Japan’s Hokuto Kanai pitched for the Bulls. Although he did his job well and kept the opponents in check as best he could, the Indians’ offensive performance was constant and they scored many runs. The Bulls’ rapid 1-0 lead only lasted into the second inning. Both Shotaro Usui and Chris Squires showed their skills on the mound and didn’t allow any more runs until the end. The second game also went to the guests from Dornbirn with 1:13.
