Bogaerts – nicknamed the X-man – has been playing in the highest American baseball league since 2013. Nine years ago, the San Nicolas-born shortstop made his Red Sox debut and never played for another club. Bogaerts won the World Series twice, in 2013 in his debut year and in 2018.
Boston could use Friday night’s win as the nine-time champion (it won its last title in 2018) is fourth in the American League East. The Red Sox have won 25 games and lost 27 this season, a win percentage of 0.481.
