Schremser Beers remain undefeated, clearly overrun Woodquarter Red Devils in the supplementary derby.

The first Waldviertel derby of the baseball season took place on Saturday at Beers Field in Eugenia. The local Schremser Beers met the Woodquarter Red Devils – on the second attempt, the game had to be canceled two weeks ago due to a thunderstorm. The Schremser Beers didn’t let up on the second date either, winning clearly 27:3.

The undefeated Beers were almost at their best. Daniel Spazierer am Mound once again proved to be a calming influence on the defensive. Offensively, the locals started rather cautiously, but benefited from a few mistakes in the Devils defense. In the second inning, the Alt-Weitraer threatened for the first time, they brought runners to first and third base with no out. However, the Schremser Defense kept its nerve. The Beers continued to increase their lead, leading 27-0 after four innings. In the end, the Devils still got three points, but the game ended according to the Mercy Rule.

The next derby is in two weeks at Hell’s Gate.
