Barça sign one of the best footballers in Europe: Lucy Bronze

BarcelonaBarça made the surprise jump. The women’s team has signed English international Lucy Bronze and will wear the Barça shirt for the next two seasons. The winger, who won The Best in 2020, ended his contract with Manchester City and has chosen Barcelona as his destination. The player has already undergone a medical check-up at Barcelona Hospital and has already taken the first photos with the Catalan shirt. The English press had reported that his next destination would involve playing in the United States, but he would eventually wear Barça.

Considered one of the best footballers of the last decade, Bronze, 30, arrives at Barça after two seasons at Manchester City, in what will be his second experience abroad, after his experience with Olympique of Lyon (2017-20). In fact, in France he won the Champions League three times in a row, the last one against Barça in the final. Personally, her extensive showcase includes, in addition to the aforementioned The Best, which was awarded to her by FIFA in 2020, the UEFA award for the best player in Europe in 2019.

“I am very happy to play for a club like Barça, one of the biggest teams in the world. I really want to start working with the team,” were his first public words as a Barça player. “After a couple of conversations, you can’t say no to Barça,” he said before returning to the concentration of the English team, with which he will play in the European Championship. The Barça club has worked with complete discretion to close this operation.

Filtering Geyse file by mistake

Almost at the same time as the Catalan club announced the incorporation of Bronze, the name of the fourth Barça addition was leaked by mistake: Geyse Ferreira. The 24-year-old striker, who played for Madrid CFF, is synonymous with a goal. Tied with Oshoala (20 goals), the Brazilian has been a member of the Primera Iberdrola this year and arrives in the Catalan dressing room to reinforce one of the positions that the technical area had marked in red.

With Jenni Hermoso’s most likely farewell and Lieke Martens’ consummate farewell, Geyse becomes key in a squad that was lame in attack. The player, who will be presented next week, has already stepped on the pitch at the Camp Nou wearing a Catalan shirt.
