Baker Mayfield on the West Coast?

football/nfl/story">

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly toying with the idea of acquiring Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

This was reported by the CBS Sports network on Thursday.

Mayfield has been in limbo since the Browns secured Houston Texans center Deshaun Watson at a high price. The first pick in the 2018 draft has not appeared in any event for the Ohio club this offseason.

The 27-year-old athlete is due to play the last season of his contract in 2022 and earn $18.9 million. It would also seem that the Seahawks would be inclined to offer a contract extension to Mayfield.

The Seattle organization traded quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in March. He had worked behind the center of the formation since the 2012 campaign. Currently, the Seahawks rely on the services of quarterbacks Drew Lock and Geno Smith.

Coming back to Mayfield, the Austin native would also attract interest from the Carolina Panthers.

The Oklahoma Sooners product had his least productive NFL career season last year. In 14 games, he completed 60.5% of his passes for 3,010 yards and 17 touchdowns. Mayfield also had 13 interceptions.
