Azuqueca celebrates its 2022 Sports Gala in a very special year | NewAlcarria

The mayor of Azuqueca de Henares, José Luis Blanco, together with the coordinator of the Government Team, Susana Santiago, and the Councilor for Sports Challenges, Enrique Pérez de la Cruz, presided over the 2022 Sports Gala this Sunday. special edition because, after two years in which the health situation of the Covid-19 did not allow it, we recovered this event to bid farewell to the season of the Municipal Sports Schools”, recalled the councilor from Azudense. “In addition, the City Council has received this year the National Sports Award in recognition of our commitment to and promotion of physical activity and, in particular, for our municipal schools that differentiate us from other cities,” he stressed.

The event, held at the Ciudad de Azuqueca sports center, was attended by students from the 23 schools of the 2021/2022 season, specifically, Sports skills, Multisport, Chess, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Handball, Baseball, Adapted sports , Fencing, Racquetball, Soccer, Futsal, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Karate, Lacrosse, Padel, Skating, Tennis, Table Tennis, Trampoline, Archery and Volleyball. As outstanding athletes, they attended Sediq Garuba, Real Madrid Basketball player; Susana Naranjo, the youngest member of the Spanish Karate Kenpo team and champion of Spain and the world, and Óscar García, from Azuda who is part of the Spanish Senior Karate team and with numerous national, European and world titles.

The City Council, in addition to giving away a commemorative cup with the motto ‘I am the National Sports Award’, awarded medals to the students of the different schools who have achieved good results in their disciplines and in provincial, regional and national events. The mayor insisted that “above the results, the unquestionable objective of the schools is to get the best possible version of each one”.

During the act, several exhibitions took place. In Karate, Susana Naranjo and Óscar García participated. Likewise, the Municipal Trampoline School carried out different exercises, while several riders completed a Trial Bike circuit. At the end, prizes were raffled among the attendees (paddle bags, paddle tennis rackets and bicycles).
