Antoine Bellier’s (ATP 303) triumph at the ATP lawn tournament in Mallorca continues. The 25-year-old wins against the same-age Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor (ATP 53) 5: 7, 7: 6 (7: 5), 6: 2.

Bellier made the turnaround after losing the first set 5-7 and just after that faced four break points in the first service game of the second round. The Romand got out of this situation and celebrated a deserved victory thanks to 13 aces. In the second half of the two-hour game, he was the better player.

Bellier can book the tournament as a success even before the semifinals against Roberto Bautista-Agut, although the Spaniard (ATP 20) screwed up a duel against world number 1 Daniil Medvedev with a win. After two victories in qualifying, Bellier celebrated his first success at the highest level. Then he switched to world number 19 with Pablo Carreño-Busta. and thus came to the first win against a top 100 player. And on Thursday, the Dutchman Griekspoor could not defeat the tall Swiss left-hander either. On Monday, the Geneva native will be at least 215th in the world rankings.

The fact that Bellier is at the start in Mallorca at all is because he missed the cut for qualifying in Wimbledon.
