ATP > Krajicek: “Without his mentality, Nadal would not have won half of what he won”

One week before the start of Wimbledon, the winner of the 1996 edition, Richard Krajicek, answered questions from Tennis Majors. He talks about his compatriot Tim Van Rijthoven, surprise winner of the ATP 250 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch on June 12, insisting on the importance of “mental strength”.

“I think Rafa is the best example. If you look at him, of course he’s a great player, but without his mentality he wouldn’t have won half of what he won. It’s the same with Novak. That’s the most important thing, the will to work hard, in this case I think Tim has always had that will, he’s a hard worker. How does everyone on the pitch deal with adversity? There is no match where everything goes as you wish, where you win all the points. There are always ups and downs, that’s the secret, always trying to give the best version of yourself. That’s what I try to instill in my players, to be mentally strong.
