It is not being an easy season for Ugo Humbert. The French tennis player started 2022 with a conspicuous win over Daniil Medvedev in the ATP Cup, but problems with COVID and a spiral of physical discomfort they have precipitated his downfall and a very long losing streak. The grass is a surface on which he feels comfortable, and in this sense the Frenchman risks his life on the ATP Halle 2022: defend the 500 points last season’s champion. Humbert was about to give in on his debut, which would have meant an early exit from the top-100: finally, Ugo came back against Radu Albot and prevented a real catastrophe (6-7(4), 7-6(4), 7-5). In the second round he could face Hubert Hurkacz or Maxime Cressy.
