Atakan Karazor in Ibiza prison: does the Stuttgart professional come out with a deal? – Bundesliga

Is there an out-of-court settlement in the case of Atakan Karazor (25)?

The Stuttgart professional is still in custody in Ibiza and is accused of raping an 18-year-old Spaniard together with his friend Jaskaran TD (25).

Problem: The judge in charge has a few days off. Karazor cannot hope for a quick release on bail.

Agnés Antick, justice spokeswoman for the Balearic Islands, confirmed to BILD that a corresponding hearing is currently not planned. The process could drag on for “weeks or months”.

According to BILD information, the lawyers of the VfB professional and the alleged victim are now speaking directly to each other.

How likely is an out-of-court settlement?

Spanish lawyer Iván Bolaño told BILD: “It is not unusual in Spain for the legal counsel of both parties to talk to each other before the trial begins. In most cases, an out-of-court settlement is negotiated.”

Such agreements are usually “in the form of a payment of a large sum of money by the accused to the accuser(s), with amounts of several hundred thousand euros being common”.

Lawyer Bolaño had represented a woman who had been the victim of Spain professional Santi Mina (26 / Celta Vigo). Mina was sentenced to four years in prison for sexual abuse in May. He is said to have raped a woman in a trailer.

Can Karazor get around a trial with a deal?

Attorney Bolaño: “Such an agreement will only lead to the dismissal of the case if it is reached before incriminating evidence is taken. If there is evidence of rape, the public prosecutor’s office investigates independently of the victim.”
