This Asian Judo Federation (JUA) is the governing body of Judo in Asia. It is one of five intercontinental federations that make up the five continents International Judo Federation (IJF). JUA was established in 1956 in Tokyo (Japan),[1] It is a founding member with Chinese Taipei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines and Thailand. JUA is headquartered in Kuwait and consists of 39 member federations.

The Judo Federation of Asia (JUA) was established in 1956 in Tokyo, Japan with the founding members of 7 national federations; Chinese Taipei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and Thailand. The first president of JUA was Micheng Rino, the son of Jigoro Kana. Risei Kano was president of the JUA from 1956 to 1980. The first Asian Judo Championship was held in Manila, Philippines in 1966, with teams from 8 member federations.[2]
