The French forward is now tied to the German club until June 2026.

It’s official. Christopher Nkunku, 24, has just extended his contract with RB Leipzig, the German team announced on Thursday morning. The tricolor striker is now linked to the Saxon club until June 2026: “I’m happy to continue wearing the RB Leipzig shirt. After the great success of the DFB Cup, it was clear: my path does not end there – we want more!“, did he declare. With this extension, the emoluments of the player trained at Paris Saint-Germain should more than double, going from 3 to 7 M€ per year. A way for the Bundesliga club to keep its jewel, which has been very courted for several weeks.

A release clause integrated into his contract?

However, RB Leipzig could be open to a Christopher Nkunku departure next summer. Indeed, as revealed Bild , a release clause in the amount of €60 million would have been included in his contract. This would only be activated from the 2023 off-season. The sum, certainly substantial, is not in line with its value on the market, which is estimated according to the specialized site Transfermarkt at €80 million. It must be said that in 2021-2022, the French international has established himself as one of the best players on the planet with 20 goals and 14 assists in the Bundesliga as well as 11 achievements in the European Cups (Ligue des champions and Europa League). To be continued.
