Angels and Mariners staged a pitched battle after a pitch that ended with 8 expelled

The Anaheim Angels and the Seattle Mariners staged a pitched battle of blows during the game this Sunday after a pitch to Seattle batter Jesse Winker. This fight was the result after two days of coming close to fighting.

Winker was hit in the legs by pitcher Anderson Wantz in the top of the second inning. who had also passed a pitch close to leadoff hitter Julio Rodríguez in the first inning.

The Seattle player did not like the pitch, but after hearing several comments from players on the Angels bench, he went over and the referee could not stop him before the avalanche of players who came to fight.

Six players and managers from both teams were ejected for the fight that delayed the game by 18 minutes.

For the Mariners they were expelled: Jesse Winker, rookie outfielder Julio Rodriguez, shortstop JP Crawford and coach Scott Servais. For the Angels they were left out Wantz, Ryan Tepera, Raisel Iglesias and interim manager Phil Nevin.

Even during the fight, Anthony Rendon got in, who is recovering from an injury to his right wrist. and with only his left arm he pushed Winker in the middle of an exchange of blows that lasted more than 4 minutes.

On Saturday night, a Seattle pitcher threw a ball to the head of outfielder Mike Trout that he dodged, but that ignited annoyance among the Anaheim players.. After the fight, the last word was taken by the Angels who defeated Seattle 2-1 and improved their record to 35 wins and 40 losses.

For its part, Seattle suffered its 40th loss of the season in a career in the American League West led by the Houston Astros.
