Angelique Kerber with little effort! 3rd round reached at Wimbledon – sport mix

The lawn is good for her!

Angelique Kerber (34) also survived the 2nd round in Wimbledon, defeated the Polish Magda Linette (30) 6: 3, 6: 3 and has to play against Elise Mertens (Belgium) or the Hungarian Panna Udvardy on Friday.

“Magda is a tough opponent, we played against each other in Strasbourg a few weeks ago. It was a solid match, but I had two tricky situations when I wasn’t using break points. I’m glad I got through in two sentences,” said Kerber.

In a less spectacular game, the German number 1 did not have to do more than necessary. At the perfect time of the first set, she managed the break to make it 5:3, the rest was a matter of form. The 2018 Wimbledon winner was hardly in trouble.

On Court 2 in 2019 she was also eliminated in the 2nd round against the American Lauren Davis (28). Three years later, the place could not harm her. As then, ex-professional Rainer Schüttler (46) sat in the box as a trainer. This time friend Franco Bianco and mother Beata are also there.

“I don’t even think about that match anymore. I’ve also celebrated victories on this pitch and could now write about many pitches of good and bad matches,” said Kerber.

The same picture in the second movement as well. Both got their serves through until Kerber made the break to make it 4:3. After 1:25 hours, the three-time Grand Slam winner converted her first match point to 6:3.

It is obvious that the Kiel native likes Wimbledon. After her victory in 2018, she reached the semifinals last year, where she lost to Ashleigh Barty (26), the world number one at the time. She has since resigned.

So it can go a long way again on Church Road…
