American Football: Stream team with German premiere – Upper Franconia

“I started with the first recordings in 2016 to help the team analyze the moves, to give football more media attention and, of course, to move it forward,” Preuss recalls. “I was also hoping to lure some players to Hof because they can get recordings of their plays here.”

Meanwhile, the quality of the recordings and game transmission has reached professional status. Thanks to the drone, there are now six camera perspectives with commentary, slow motion and fade-ins, so that the Jokers’ sponsors are also very happy to present themselves in the broadcast – everything for the club – for Preuss and the other “crazy people” of the stream team it’s a hobby. Of course, the team had to grow with the equipment and technology. “Only the team performance makes the stream possible at all, especially in the away games,” says Preuss in a nutshell.

The team is a motley crew. Markus Kohlhäufl comes from Regensburg every time. Previously on a high tripod, he now delivers the drone images with his self-financed technology. The high tripod was taken care of by Udo Trattner from Konradsreuth, who had been the Jokers’ team photographer for years. The camera on the sidelines is currently still operated by Lukas Weber, who, like his brother, wants to play for the Jokers in the near future. Mäx Zillibiller from Püchitz near Bad Staffelstein (a veteran of the former Bamberg Bears) and ex-Jokers player Karsten Feig from Himmelkron alternate as competent commentators in the stream. The picture direction is in the hands of Preuss himself, who can sometimes also fall back on the helping hands of Markus Schmidt from Weißenstadt and Klaus Hager from Kautendorf, but is constantly looking for further growth for the stream team. “We would be very happy about anyone who wants to lend a hand. If you are interested, just contact the Jokers, or drop by the PTSV sports field at the home game – we are always there.”

In the meantime, the stream team can look back on some experience in terms of broadcasting sporting events. The boys are always at the start with the Hof Jokers. There was also baseball in Kronach, rugby in Bayreuth and most recently the final in the Bavarian Association Cup with the footballers of FFC Hof. “We would also like to do ice hockey or motorsport,” says the former initiator and has many other ideas in the back of his mind. “If we had someone else on social media to respond to comments on live chat during the stream that would be great. Also if we had someone to take care of overlaying stats and such.”

And technically, Preuss still has ideas and dreams about how the stream team could expand its portfolio. “A screen or mobile display in the stadium would be great, so that the spectators not only get the great atmosphere but also all the slow motion and replays in the stadium.”

Given what the stream team has put together in such a short amount of time, I’m sure it won’t be long until then.
