American basketball elite league records

This 2021-2022 season, the Golden State Warriors won their 7th NBA title against Boston Celtics by winning the series 4-2. The Californian franchise succeeds the Milwaukee Bucks champions in 2021. But do you know the titled teams in the NBA? Here is the list of the American basketball elite league.

1. LOS ANGELES LAKERS (17 TITRES)

The leader of our ranking has as many NBA titles as his runner-up, 17 each. The first title of the Los Angeles Lakers dates back to 1949. The following year, the franchise won the second title. From 1952 to 1954, the Lakers team won 3 NBA championship titles in a row. It took 22 years to see LA Lakers return to the top and win a third title in 1972. The 80s were good seasons of title harvesting for the Lakers. They take 5 (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988). But the 2000s were even more prolific with 6 NBA championship titles gleaned (2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010 and 2020).

2. BOSTON CELTICS (17)

Like LA Lakers, the Celtics have also written the most beautiful pages in the history of the American basketball elite league. Boston notably spread its hegemony over the NBA in the 1960s (1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968 and 1969). But before Boston had already won two titles in 1957 and 1959. The Celtics won 2 trophies in the 70s (1974, 1976) and 3 titles in the 80s (1981, 1984 and 1986). The Boston Celtics’ last title dates back to 2008. It is with as many titles as the Lakers that the Celtics occupy second place in the rankings.

3. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (7)

Crowned champions in 2022, Stephen Curry and his teammates are more than ever alone in the standings with 7 titles. After a Game 6 win, the Golden State Warriors beat Boston Celtics 4-2 and won the league title. Steph Curry is named Finals MVP without contest. After the first coronation in 1947, the Californian franchise won two other titles in 1956 and 1975. It was not until 2015 that Golden State Warriors were led by Curry, the current best 3-point scorer in NBA history, to carry his team to victory. . The Californian team returns in 2017 for a new coronation and then also in 2018.

4. CHICAGO BULLS (6)

The Chicago Bulls have won a total of six trophies, which places them in 4th place in the standings. The Windy City franchise won all its titles under the leadership of Michael Jordan in the 1990s (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998).

5. SAINT ANTONY SPURS (5)

The franchise of the former captain of the French basketball team Tony Parker has won 5 NBA titles. Which makes it the fifth titled team in the list of the American basketball elite league. Spurs won in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014.

6. MIAMI HEAT (3)

Despite its youth (franchise created in 1988), the Miami Heat still managed to climb the charts. The franchise has won 3 championship titles (2006, 2012 and 2013).

7. PHILADELPHIA SIXERS (3)

The Sixers have been crowned three times (1955, 1967 and 1983). During this last title, the duo composed of Julius Erving and Moses Malone was simply unplayable.

8. DETROIT PISTONS (3)

The Detroit Pistons are tied for titles with the Philadelphia 76ers. They were crowned in 1989 and 1990 when the Bad boys dominated the league. The title of 2004, on the other hand, had surprised many observers. The Pistons were not starting favorites. The Lakers led by Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal seemed more seasoned. But against all odds, Ben Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups and Rasheed Wallace put up fierce resistance to win 4-1.

9. MILWAUKEE BUCKS (2)

Milwaukee is the 9th most successful franchise in the NBA. The Bucks of Giannis doubled the bet in 2021, fifty years after the first coronation conquered in 1971. That year, the champion team was led by the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

10. HOUSTON ROCKETS (2)

In tenth position is Houston. The Rockets can say a big thank you to Hakeem Olajuwon. He is the main architect of the two titles won by the Rockets in the 90s (1994 and 1995). It should also be noted that at the same time Michael Jordan was taking his first retirement from sport.

11. NEW YORK KNICKS (2)

The two titles of the Knicks date back to the 70s (1970 and 1973). Since then, the many fans of the franchise have been desperately waiting for a third title. We don’t forget that the 2020-2021 epic has given them hope.

12. TORONTO RAPTORS (1)

Like the Heat, Toronto is a recent team founded in 1995, which unfortunately has not yet managed to occupy the foreground. But the arrival of Kawhi Leonard has been beneficial for the Raptors. The franchise from the shores of Lake Ontario won their only title in 2019. This is the twelfth titled team on the list.

13. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS (1)

For their only NBA championship, the Cavaliers can say thank you to LeBron James. After two titles won with Miami, the Chosen One set sail for its native state, Ohio. Perfectly supported by Kyrie Irving, LeBron James offered the only championship title to Cleveland. Obviously, this damn was expected of the whole city since the accession of the franchise in the elite league.

14. DALLAS MAVERICKS (1)

The Mavericks had a fantastic epic, masterfully led by Dirk Nowitzki in 2011. While the title seemed promised in Miami, the Dallas players stood up as one man to stand in the way of Miami. The rest we know: victory for the Lacs in a series won 4-2.

15. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (1)

also has a title in its purse. The Thunder actually won its only crown in 1979. But at that time, the team was called “The Supersonics” and played in Seattle (another city).

16. WASHINGTON WIZARDS (1)

The Wizards’ lone title was won in 1978, when the franchise was known as the Bullets. This name was changed in 1997 to Washington Wizards, to avoid controversy around the shootings in the United States.

17. PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS (1)

The only coronation of Portland is to the credit of Bill Walton. On his own, he dominated the final between the Blazers and the Sixers head and shoulders. It is the 17th most successful team on the NBA list.

18. ATLANTA HAWKS (1)

The only Hawks title trophy dates back to 1958. This year, Trae Young’s troops had a superb season after which Atlanta won the crown.

19. SACRAMENTO KINGS (1)

The Sacramento Kings won their only title in history in 1951. It is 71 years today. This coronation is so so distant that only fans of the franchise and historians of the league still remember.
