Already the third tennis player has been forced to withdraw from Wimbledon due to Covid-19

“I have tested positive for Covid-19,” Agut wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday. “Fortunately, the symptoms are not very serious, but I think this is the right decision [izstāties]. Thanks for support. I hope to return soon.”

Agut, who is ranked 19th in the ATP rankings and was seeded 17th at Wimbledon, was scheduled to meet Daniel Elahi Galan (ATP 109) from Colombia in the second round today.

In the first round match, Agut defeated Attila Balaš (ATP 334) from Hungary 6-1, 6-0, 6-3.

It has already been announced that last year’s finalist Matteo Berrettini (ATP 10th) from Italy and 2017 finalist Marian Cilic from Croatia have withdrawn from the Wimbledon tournament due to positive tests for Covid-19.

In the final of the 2021 Wimbledon Championship, Berretini lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic 7-6(7:4), 4-6, 4-6, 3-6.
