Alexander Zverev is number two in the world tennis rankings – he’s never been that good! – Sport mix

He can’t stand on the tennis court right now, but still achieves the best world ranking of his career.

In the ranking published on Monday, our tennis star Alexander Zverev (25) is in second place. Only Daniil Medvedev (26/Russia) is still ahead of Zverev.

How does this work?

Novak Djokovic (35 / Serbia), previously number 1, has only now had the 2000 points for the French Open victory in 2021 deleted because the second Grand Slam tournament of the year last year took place a week later. In 2022 Djokovic was eliminated in the quarter-finals against eventual winner Rafael Nadal (36 / Spain).

Bitter for Zverev: After tore all the side ligaments in his right foot in the French Open semi-final against Nadal, he will hardly be happy about this success.

Because it is clear: After the successful operation, Zverev has the longest injury break of his career ahead of him and will definitely miss the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon (June 27th to July 10th).

With an optimal healing process, he can hope to be back at the US Open (August 29 to September 11), the fourth Grand Slam tournament of the year.

︎ Pleasing from a German point of view: Oscar Otte (28) is in 51st place after reaching the semifinals at the ATP tournament in Stuttgart – also better than ever.
