They stay. Although at no time have there been any doubts about her continuity, Super Amara Bera Bera has been able to confirm this morning the renewals for one more season of her two captains. In this way, Alba Menéndez and Esther Arrojeria, two flagships, will complete their fourteenth and tenth years respectively at the San Sebastian club, where they are already history. And it is that between the two they add 34 titles. The player from Zaragoza, who debuted in 09/10, has won the club’s eight Leagues, 4 Queen’s Cups and 6 Super Cups for a total of eighteen; the Bera Bera has won 21 throughout its history.

Menéndez, who will turn 31 in November, is an eminence in Donostia. Not only because of what he contributes on the court – he has been the defensive benchmark for years and is seen more and more freely in attack – but above all because of what he means off it. She is the perfect leader and one of those people who is always missing in a locker room. In addition to always being 100% committed, which has led him to play 247 games consecutively from the first day of 14/15 to the fourteenth of this course 21/22, both included. Only the coronavirus left him without options on February 19 in Malaga, precisely the stage where Super Amara lost their only league match this season.

Until now, Alba has scored 749 goals with the San Sebastian shirt, 555 in the League, 59 in the Cup, 20 in the Super Cup and 107 in European competitions. He is close to completing 400 games with the team of his life.

For its part, Arrojeria debuted in 12/13 and to date has lifted 8 Leagues, 3 Cups and 5 Super Cups, only two titles less than Alba: sixteen. The usurbildarra, the best conductor the team can have, has played 266 games with Bera Bera between the League (199), Cup (26), Super Cup (7) and Europe (34) for a total of 682 goals. The 28-year-old central defender, who will play the next 2022 Mediterranean Games with the ‘Guerreras’ in Oran (Algeria), is an essential piece in Imanol Álvarez’s scheme and another example of work and perseverance.

Since the cruciate ligament in his knee was torn in March 2016 during training with the national team, Arrojeria has played 146 games in a row (he returned to 40×20 in January 2017 already recovered).
