Hamburg – The Austrian Raoul Korner is to become the new coach of the basketball Bundesliga club Hamburg Towers. This was reported by the “Hamburger Abendblatt”. The 48-year-old has had a dual role as Austrian national coach and Bundesliga coach since 2019.
Korner Medi Bayreuth trained from 2016 until the end of the main round of this season. He announced his departure at the beginning of May with the justification that he was aiming for “a new sporting challenge and a change of scenery”. From 2013 to 2016 he worked for Bundesliga rivals Löwen Braunschweig.
Hamburg need a new coach because the Spaniard Pedro Calles is moving to EWE Baskets Oldenburg after two years.
