A hundred projects supported in Chaudière-Appalaches

Over the past year, the Chaudière-Appalaches Regional Recreation and Sports Unit (URLS-CA) has supported the implementation of 84 projects promoting the practice of leisure activities in the region.

More than 37,000 citizens took part in the various initiatives deployed between December 2021 and June 2022.

In 2021, the URLS-CA completely redesigned the way it redistributes the various financial envelopes it made available to organizations in the region. In the fall, she launched the Support for leisure and sports initiativeswhich includes all the programs administered by the URLS.

The Board of Directors has also decided to increase by $80,000 the sums set aside in the agreements with financial backers. In all, more than $166,000 was injected into organizations to help them realize their project.

“This new approach allows us to have a much more precise vision of the projects and ideas emerging in our region. This makes it easier for us to make available the expertise and knowledge present within our team. Sometimes, this type of support has more than just financial backing,” says URLS-CA Executive Director Dave Fortin.

For each dollar granted by the URLS-CA, the community injected an average of $1.25, which brings the overall investment in recreation and sports in the region in connection with this call for projects to $373,000.

In addition to continuing to support initiatives in physical activity, the outdoors and sports, the organization also supported cultural leisure projects.

Overall, no less than 14 initiatives in this component received support under this call for projects.

New partnerships for 2022
Two calls for projects are planned for 2022. The first took place in April, when nearly 200 requests were received and analyzed by the URLS-CA team.

Partnerships have been developed with the Fondation Québec Philanthrope, the Chaudière-Appalaches regional social economy table and Accès-Loisirs Québec to support a greater number of projects. The URLS expects to be able to respond positively to more than 60% of the requests received. A second call for projects will take place in the fall.

Remember that the URLS of Chaudière-Appalaches is a non-profit organization, which works as an expert advisor, support actor and information hub for actors and actors of leisure and sport in the territory. administrative.
