167 athletes with the ‘Valle Oro Puro’ seal in the Bolivarian Games

Santiago de Cali, June 22, 2022. The international Olympic cycle opens for the South American continent with the 19th edition of the Bolivarian Games, which from June 24 to July 5 will have Valledupar as its main venue and sub-venues in Bogotá and Cali.

For this event, the Colombian delegation will have 635 athletes with whom it seeks to repeat the feat of 2013 in Trujillo-Peru and 2017 in Santa Marta, when the Bolivarian champion was crowned. In this delegation of more than 600 athletes, 167 athletes and nine coaches represent Valle del Cauca, athletes with the ‘Valle Oro Puro’ seal such as John Alejandro Perlaza, Valeria Cabezas, Shary Vallecilla and Martha Valeria Araujo, athletes who stand out in the call national.

“We continue to revalidate the sports potential of the Invincible Valley, just as in the last international events, our athletes make up a large percentage within the national delegation to the Bolivarian Games and most importantly, thanks to the preparation that we have been able to provide with our governor Clara Luz Roldán, athletes from Valle del Cauca are firm candidates to be on the continental podium”, stated the manager of Indervalle, Carlos Felipe López.

In weightlifting, the Valley will be present with medalists such as Luis Javier Mosquera, Miyareth Mendoza, Manuela Berrío and Valeria Rivas; in swimming it will have eight athletes, including Juan Manuel Morales; in judo Luz Adiela Álvarez, appears with an important experience among the seven athletes; In cycling, four riders will compete for Colombia, Valle del Cauca Kevin Santiago Quintero, recent champion of the Nations Cup, will lead the men’s team on the track.

In team sports, the Valley also has a massive sports presence, in basketball there will be six athletes, in handball six, in soccer 13, in water polo 12 and in volleyball 14. As for the coaches, the Valley will have 9 technicians, among whom Juan Carlos Díaz appears in athletics, César Vinasco in judo, Mario Cárdenas in fencing, John Cardona in karate-do and Fernán Montoya in Olympic wrestling.
